Windsurfing: La Franqui-France Wind Direction: nw Wind Stength: 15/20 Surf / Sea State: flatish and chop Air Temperature: 25 Sea Temperature: 19 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 30 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered:
After some great days around Calais then the Loire and visiting some
friends near Limoges and after Rob had texted the forecast for La Franqui
to be windy from Wednesday,we were parked by the Etang de Bages et de
Sigean near Narboone Tuesday evening with the plan to meet up with Peter
Cutts :)Then at one thirty in the middle of the night we were woken by gale
force winds and a bad Etang muddy smell :( so we drove to the sheltered
Bages and finished the night in a carpark by the Etang near the recycling
bins !!!
After a few hours good sleep arrange to met Pete and Jill on the beach
between La Palme and Port la Nouvelle ,found a great place to park and
although it did’nt look that windy decided to give it ago with the Falcon
90 and 7m.I am yet to have a really good sail in the La Franqui area and
today was,nt any different :( the wind seemed too north to me was was very
very gusty, one minute nicely powered the next having trouble waterstarting
which made staying upwind a nightmare !!! I had a few okay runs on the
flatish water near the beach but there was a rolling swell and not enough
wind and the course below the pier was very broad !!! So after one long run
down toward La Franqui I had a nightmare getting back which involved
struggling windsurfing, walking and swimming !!! Mag came to met me on her
bike after her nice ride around Port la Nouvelle and helped me back with my
gear !!!
Then spent a nice couple of hours chatting with a cold beer with Pete and
Jill and checking our gps results and hoping for better condition
tomorrow.
Mag and I then walk to the lighthouse at Port la Nouvelle buy a baget as
the shop is closing and get a 10 euro fruit tart free !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
and saw loads of flamingos on way to our lakeside overnight stop near
Peyriac de Mer :)
